Spooky Scary Saturday

Where did the week go?? Now that I think of it, baseball, hot yoga, chopping all of my hair off, and celebratory margarita drinking ate up most of my free time.

Yeah I cut off like, 8 inches of hair. I don't have a photo for you because I won't take a selfie because my dad told me not to do that anymore. He told me I looked creepy. Fine. I guess I did look creepy. It's a good thing it's Halloween! That creepiness will come in handy. And pictures will definitely be taken of our clever costumes. So you'll get to see the new 'do. I'm very excited to share the brilliant costume ideas Kenzie and I stumbled upon today. In due time.

But all of this excitement means...it's Saturday again! Which is totally fun. It's also Halloween, which is spooky and scary.

"What is the perfect marriage of totally fun AND spooky and scary?" you might ask?

 Well, this song of course!

This is the weekend everyone will be getting their fill of the standard Fun Sized candies that we all know and love, but I can't help but share some of the "elevated" Halloween treats I've found this week.

I'm definitely the girl who sees the assorted Hershey's chocolates and digs through all of the Crackles and Mr. Goodbars and takes all of the Special Darks. But now I want to take all of these Candy Corn Cookies too.

Make Jenna's candy corn cookie recipe
So cute! So confusing! Cookie or candy? Cookie or candy?
What about making your own peppermint patties? I already told you I'm a sucker for dark chocolate right?

I trust you all not to make these for trick-or-treaters. They won't be allowed to eat them anyways because their parents will think you're trying to poison them. Save everyone the trouble and make them fo' yo' self. And perhaps your friends who were nicest to you this week.

I get that peppermint patties are Christmasy. I'll admit that I'm way too excited for Christmas for it to still be October, but what if I put some delicious mulled wine (a classic holiday beverage) in some of these adorable apple cups for a wonderfully adult autumn treat this weekend? Why yes, I think I might.

As for other fun adult things to do this weekend, I thought I would share with you this really useful tip: how to fold a fitted sheet.

Yeah, blows your mind, right? Mine too. It's just one of those things when I think, "Man, I really don't think this should be as hard as it seems, but it's definitely hard enough that my fitted sheet just ends up getting crumpled up into a wrinkled ball because I get too frustrated to actually figure it out. I should call my mom and ask her how to do it. 'Cause she'll know. She knows everything. But my phone is all the way over there..."

Jill Cooper knows what's up too.

So folding sheets - not very fun, I know, but what if you folded sheets while drinking mulled wine out of an apple cup? You could also drink regular wine out of a Solo cup. I don't judge. We're transitioning into adulthood, right?

Right. Good talk. Happy Saturday!

  1. Helpful, funny, interesting, diet and sobriety killing post today. What's not to like? Recommendation: drinking alcoholic beverages out of fruit (think pinapple) almost requires a paper garnish of some sort. Think umbrella or origami swan.
